Ralph Mency is a 6’4, 230lb standout football player out of Robert E Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Ralph is a phenomenal player on both sides of the ball. He is mismatch at the tight end spot; his speed and agility makes it tough for most linebackers to cover him one on one, while his strength and size make it difficult for safeties to take on that task. However, where he will make his money will be as an edge rusher and that’s where he said he is being recruited the most. Mency has quick first step and is already very polished as a high school pass rusher. After his first step if the lineman is able to get a hand on Mency he uses his hands very well and is able to out muscle the lineman to get to the quarterback. He is an ideal 3-4 outside backer with his quickness and ability to play in space. Mency was video game-esque last year with his stats: 57 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, and 3 interceptions. I have a feeling, he will make whoever his defensive coordinator is on Saturday’s very happy.
He currently holds offers from: Wake Forest, Tulane, Colorado State, Bowling Green, UConn, UAB, Liberty, FAU, and South Alabama.
Ralph told me earlier this week that Wake Forest is currently recruiting him the hardest. He plans on visiting Winston-Salem in March. Along with a visit to UCF in late February and he’s also planning to go to Liberty in late March.
Favorite in Recruitment: As of right Mency says UConn is currently the leader in his recruitment.
