The Gators land another 2019 commit and this time it’s a running back out of Carol City High School down in Miami Gardens.
On the field: Nay’Quan Wright is currently ranked as the 18th best RB (on 247sports.com) in the nation, however, his ranking doesn’t do him justice. At 5-9, 185 pounds he plays bigger than his actual size. Wright showcases his abilities by making you miss with his exclusiveness, run you over with his physical running style, and also top end speed to break away for long touchdown runs.
Overall feel: Nay’Quan Wright is an excellent pickup for the offense. Mullens offense is all about showcasing your playmaker’s abilities to score, and Wright has every ability to do that. With Scarlett and Perine possibly leaving for the NFL after this season, Wright could be looking at early rotational playing time. Adding Wright will allow this backfield to continue to be a talented group. Even with upperclassmen leaving, Malik Davis, and Dameon Pierce still roam the backfields. Mullen wants to be a physical running team, adding Nay’Quan Wright just adds more fuel to the fire.
