Missouri dominates #11 Florida 38-17.

Florida seemed to have come into this game hung over after the Georgia loss last week. Nothing was pretty, the offense couldn’t sustain any type of momentum, and the defense couldn’t get off the field when needed. This game reeked of years pass, former Florida teams led by coaches Will Muschamp and Jim McElwain. Florida still has a chance to win out, however, this performance shouldn’t sit well with gator nation.

3 Offensive Takeaways

Feleipe Franks didn’t bounce back, he played poorly. Franks started out the game missing easy throws and could never bounce back, he finished the game 9/22 to go with 84 passing yards and one rushing score before getting benched late in the 3rd quarter. I listed Franks being an X-factor and his performance was a key reason why the team loss.

The offensive line got bullied up front and couldn’t create any holes for the run game. Missouri’s defensive line and linebackers lived in Florida’s backfield when it came to passing downs and run plays. If Florida wants to win out the offensive line has to set up these last 3 games.

There’s a big question again on the offense and it’s one of the worst to have this time of the season, Who will start at QB the last three games for Florida? Franks got yanked late during the third quarter due to his horrendous play and Mullen decided to go with Kyle Trask. Trask made use of his snaps when playing, finishing 10/18,126 passing yards and 1 touchdown thrown. Trask looked more accurate and hit the easy throws Franks continually missed on. Will Trask start the remaining games? Possibly, but I rather see Mullen ride with true freshman Emory Jones.

3 Defensive Takeaways

Drew lock torched the secondary. I talked about Florida’s secondary being important in today, and they got exposed all game. Lock threw for 3 touchdowns, 250 yards, and completed 24/32 of his passes.

In part of the secondary getting exposed again, the defensive line was extremely quiet this afternoon. No sacks, barely any pressure, and pushed around by an average Missouri offensive line. Florida’s defensive line hasn’t made any noise since the LSU game if you turn on the film. Vanderbilt, Georgia and now Missouri have kept this “talented” defensive line quite. Florida’s defense feeds off their defensive line, Grantham will have to improve that position group if they want to finish the season with success.

Todd Grantham called probably his worse game of the season defensively. Missouri’s Offensive coordinator Derek Dooley had Grantham confused all game, Dooley made Grantham pay ever time he brought pressure. The saying 3rd and Grantham rung true today, Missouri converted 11 out of 18 tries on the third down. Grantham has to do a better job of coaching up his players on his side of the ball.

Overall Feeling

Florida came out extremely flat today, as a fan I thought these days of playing uninspired Football were long over but however, the feeling still haunts this team. Florida should still be favored in their remaining games so the team could still finish 9-3, however, it all starts with South Carolina next week, and it could spell trouble for a team that still has questions at quarterback.
