The Gators keep the recruiting momentum going as they add another 4 star to their class. This time it’s a 4-star Tackle from Fort Washington, Maryland.
William Harrod made his first visit to the swamp and he got to witness Mullens first win as the Gators head coach. Harrod was one of many talented recruits on campus this past Saturday and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The atmosphere of the swamp and the coaching staff won Harrod over and he decided to commit. The coaching staff did a great job of closing in on Harrod, he’s a big-time commit that chose Florida over Michigan and a list of other power 5 teams.
On the field: At 6-5, 312 pounds William Harrod is a “BIG”, strong, and athletic tackle that fits our offensive line perfectly. Offensive line coach John Hevesy wants to make the Gators tough and physical up front and Harrod gives you all that and more. Harrod showcases great pass protection while pass blocking and has the athleticism to throw out a block during run plays as well.
Overall feel: Mullen and his staff have been hitting on all cylinders as of late when it comes down to recruiting, with adding Harrod it proves it even more. Mullen makes it an emphasis that he wants to be more physical up front. When it comes down to playing time Harrod will have to compete. Both tackles could be leaving for the draft next year (Martez Ivey and Jawaan Taylor) so it’ll be interesting on how it plays out. Harrod could be viewed as a “project player” but that could all change if he comes int to camp focused and ready to play ball.
