FSU FOOTBALL: 3 Players FSU Needs To Be Aware of

Coach Taggart’s first game…. is a big one. He has done everything he needed to do to rejuvenate this program, along with the fan base…. Now it’s time to line it up. Virginia Tech has talented players but there’s three players FSU needs to keep an eye on.

3.) Devon Hunter S/LB

Devon Hunter didn’t really make much of an impact last season for the Hokies but there is a reason why he’s on this list. He’s a very talented player and a former blue chip recruit.

Hunter’s role in Bud Foster’s will be very similar to Jaiden Woodbey’s role in the Seminole’s defense. He will a be used as a hybrid linebacker/safety playing up close to the line of scrimmage, as a pass coverage backer. At 6’1 218 pound he’s a big, physical player who’s not scared to lay the lumber.

One big match up that we should keep an eye on is Hunter vs Soph TE Tre McKitty, both are poised for a big year after having a limited contribution in their freshman campaigns.

2.) Trevon Hill , EDGE

Trevon Hill is the Hokies leading returning pass rusher and a heck of a play maker. Hill had 5.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss, and an interception last season. Hill’s motor is second to none, he attacks with relentless effort making loads of effort plays.

Hill is another player that Virginia Tech fans expect a big year from and that is for good reason. Against an FSU O-line who has struggled in recent years, the ‘Noles should be aware of #94 every time they line up.

1.) Sean Savoy, WR

After a very solid freshman campaign, Savoy looks to take that next step. At 5’8, 175lbs he is not the prototypical WR that everyone loves but, he plays bigger than the size he’s listed at. Savoy is a playmaker and does it from everywhere on the field. He even rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns last year, but he will make his money in the slot. Last year he accounted for 454 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air.

Luckily, Florida State has one of the best corners in the nation in Levonta Taylor and this will be an interesting match up. Likely to be Josh Jackson’s top target, Savoy is poised to see plenty of action Monday night which means Taylor will too. I Expect Savoy to get touches from all over the field, the Seminole’s defense have be on their A game when guarding this shifty WR.
