Florida Gators vs Charleston Southern Buccaneers, Week 1 Preview.

College football is finally back ladies and gentlemen and your Florida Gators take on Charleston So. It’s the first game of the Dan Mullen era and many fans are excited to see how it starts off. Yesterday the team announced RS Sophomore Feleipe Franks the starting Quarterback and the team seems to be all for it. With many returning starters on defense and offense, the Gators could be in for a special season. There will be a few new faces on the field come Saturday, two of them will be transfer players WR Trevon Grimes and WR Van Jefferson. Yes, it’s not a prime-time opener but the Gators can use this game as a tune before top-notch sec play.

Offensive X-factor: QB Feleipe Franks.

Florida isn’t facing a challenging opponent but it’ll be interesting to see how Franks works in mullen’s system. Mullen praised Franks in yesterdays presser on his toughness, athleticism, and his overall development on understanding the game. However, the fans want proof and it starts with CSU.

Defensive X-factor: S Donovan Stiner

One of the biggest surprises yesterday after the release of week 1s depth chart was that Safety Donovan Stiner was listed as a starter alongside Safety Jeawon Taylor. Mullen mentioned in yesterdays presser that Stiner had a great fall camp and showed improvement on his athleticism, which is needed for the safety position.

Key stat: Florida enters Saturday having won 28 consecutive home openers, which is the longest active streak in the country. The Gators look to extend it to 29.

Prediction: Florida 56, Charleston Southern 3.

The team will be hyped and excited to get back in the swamp. I fell like Mullen will try to air it out and score big. The defense will only surrender 3 points, they’ll force a few turnovers and give the offense great field position to capitalize on.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for next week as I give a week 2 preview on Florida vs Kentucky.
