Dan Mullen and the staff got there first 2019 commit from there “Friday Night Lights” event. The visitors’ list was stacked with elite talent last Friday and the staff was looking to seal the deal against quite a few recruits. Many speculations came out that Florida had some silent verbal commits but it was all on the players to decide on when to announce. Yesterday morning Diwune Black was the first to start the trend and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Florida entered the day ranked 40 on 247sports recruiting rankings, but with Black’s commit, they jumped all the way up to 26. Give credit to linebackers coach Christian Robinson, running backs coach Greg Knox, and other coaches on the staff for making this flip happen.

On the field: Diwun Black is a 6-3.5 225-pound linebacker has the potential to be the best at his position in this 2019 class. Black flashes great speed, athleticism, toughness as a linebacker. For Grantham to run his 3-4 to its strength, fast linebackers will definitely be a need. With his versatility, Black could also see time at safety. Black is still raw and needs to clean up his technique, however, with being young it’s expected and can easily be improved.

Overall this was a wonderful pick up for Florida. Black could possibly finish his season ranked as the number one linebacker of this years class, and could potentially get his 5th star. Black is the first of many commits to pop, stay tuned for more.
